Although everyone laughed at her impossible determination, news of her attempt spread, and at last Garuḍa, eagle carrier of Lord Viṣṇu, heard and became compassionate toward his small sister. Garuḍa was pleased by her determination and promised to help. Thus Garuḍa asked the ocean to return the sparrows eggs lest he himself take up the sparrow’s work of emptying the ocean. The ocean was frightened by Garuḍa’s power and returned the eggs.
